These monocytes, not the macrophages that they differentiate into, fuel tumor growth via MAPK pathway activation. We identify tumor-associated monocytes (TAMo’s) that, unlike TAMΦ’s, display a dramatically enhanced migration induced by the TME and promote cancer cell proliferation
