Bichoy Gabra: One year of Moffitt at Port Tampa Bay
Bichoy Gabra, Oncology Infusion Pharmacy Services Manager at Moffitt Cancer Center, shared a post on X:
“This month we celebrate one year of Moffitt at Port Tampa Bay!
On July 11, 2023, we celebrated the grand opening of Moffitt Cancer Center’s Community Outreach and Education Center at Cruise Terminal 2.
This Community Outreach and Education Center has the ability to save lives and allows us to better connect with the Tampa Bay area community and provide screening and cancer education.
Moffitt Cancer Center operates an 850-square-foot resource center in Terminal 2 off Port Tampa Bay. The location of this new education center is intended to attract traffic from cruise ships (passengers and maritime workers) as well as the Tampa Aquarium. Shoppers at Sparkman Wharf, a Water Street food hub, are other targets.
The Lightning Foundation and the Lightning Community Heroes program donated $50,000 to support the center, which will focus on cancer prevention and early detection, as well as provide appointment services for cancer screenings.
Instead of coming off the boat burnt and blistered, maybe passengers will stop by and get some sunscreen.”
