Douglas Flora, MD, LSSBB, FACCC, on the 1971 National Cancer Act and the potential for AI in cancer care:

“I’m 52 now… the day I was born in 1971 – the committee came forward to the commission, recommending this. To paraphrase what they said: for the first time in medical history, we now have the tools and the understanding of physiology to convene, to connect, to make a real difference in this war on cancer.

And I would say that those were the beginnings of our understanding of biochemistry and physiology, molecular chemistry, genetics.

This is the next phase.”
