The Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) had its Annual Meeting this year (MASCC24) from June 27-29, 2024 in Lille, France.

The overall theme of the meeting was to ‘Empower People Impacted by Cancer and Living with Toxicities’.

MASCC24 keeps on delivering! After the conference, heading to Paris, I’m sitting with three amazing nurses from Hong Kong. They’ve been searching for an exercise physiologist to discuss exercise and lymphedema, wanting to create educational resources.

We had a great plenary session today on home care and care closer to home with talks from Marc Poterre, Eduardo Bruera and Christine Boers, chaired by Maryam Lustberg and Mario Di Palma.

Yesterday I had the honour to be part of a workshop dedicated to dissect the role of biomarkers in Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neurotoxicity (CIPN), during the 2024 The Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) meeting in Lille, France.

I had the opportunity to discuss this fascinating topic with great experts. This first step will lead to many more efforts of a multidisciplinary group to push forward the use of biomarkers in CIPN.

I am mostly grateful to Professor Ellen Smith for inviting me and to all the incredibly knowledgeable colleagues I had the opportunity to work with!

The affiliates are the core of MASCC. Involve your countries effort to enhance the supportive visibility and MASCC leadership.

We had the affiliates meeting with French speaking, Serbian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Morroco, Portuguese, Indian and Netherlands groups. We’re missing Armenian polish and Russians. Thanks to Corina van den Hurk for her great support to increase affiliates collaboration.

Well that’s a wrap! What a perfect end to a fantastic MASCC24!

An action pack week full of engaging meetings, lots of entertainment with friends and colleagues, presentation of the recently published Dutch Registry finished off with the presentation of preliminary results of our Phase I/II trial in Singapore.

Very proud of the work we are doing around the world to support patients as well as the amazing relationships we are building with some of the best and brightest people in Supportive Cancer Care.

Thanks to our incredible Paxman Scalp Cooling team for making this week such a success and to the Board and Executive team at The Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC).

It’s been an exciting 3 days of connecting and learning at MASCC24 in Lille, France.

I had the pleasure of presenting my masters thesis work related to what older adults living with and beyond cancer tell us about healthy aging. Looking forward to meeting again next year!

As the MASCC Annual Meeting wraps up, I return with valuable insights and new connections to better support our cancer patients.

Every individual, regardless of their illness, deserves dignity and a good quality of life. Let’s keep this in mind as we work towards establishing Armenia’s first Interdisciplinary Center for Supportive Medicine.
