Alique Topalian: Going in to the final day of ASCO24 and reflecting on the past week
Alique Topalian, Research Scientist- Survivorship and Supportive Services at the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center, shared a post on their LinkedIn:
”Going in to the final day of ASCO24 and reflecting on the past week. My first ASCO was everything I dreamed it would be and more. My heart is full from seeing my favorite advocates, meeting people with a true passion for patient centered care, and the mentorship some of the most renowned change makers of the field have given me.
Three years ago this week I was making the decision of if I would be doing a bone marrow transplant. Now – I am at one of the largest oncology conferences in the world fighting to give patients a voice, representation in research, and proposing a new mechanism of action for Cancer Related Cognitive Impairment! My how things have come full circle.
I also am incredibly proud of my mentee Sophie Kushman for the growth I have seen in her personally and professionally over the last two years. I always try to push her out of her comfort zone and she rises to the challenge every time. I cannot believe this is my last week working with her (for now)! As she starts medical school this year, I will miss her greatly, but I cannot to wait to see the clinician scientist she will become in her career. I know she has very big things in her future!
Until next year ASCO! You can read our full abstract here.”
