Eva Schumacher-Wulf: My personal highlights from ESMOBreast24
Eva Schumacher-Wulf, Editor-in-Chief of Mamma Mia! Magazine, shared on LinkedIn:
“Before I head to Chicago to attend ASCO24, I would like to summarise my personal highlights from ESMOBreast24:
Best Poster Award: I was more than proud of the “best poster” award we received for our poster ‘Uncovering insensitive platitudes: a survey of people with metastatic breast cancer (MBC)’. Unfortunately my co-authors Jo Taylor, Kathy Redmond and Lena Geltenbort-Rost couldn’t make it to the conference. I really missed them.
I am also happy that the other poster I presented on ‘Patient-reported understanding of metastatic breast cancer (mBC) biomarkers’ was presented by Marleen Kok in her talk on translational research during the ESMOBreast24 key takeaways session. I would like to thank my co-authors Lesley Fallowfield DBE, Runcie C.W. Chidebe, Vicki Durston, Alexandru Eniu, Ranjit Kaur, Pippa Hadland, Rosemary Carolan, the ABC Global Alliance and especially Fatima Cardoso for giving me the opportunity to present the poster.
I would also like to thank ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology for inviting me to speak on ‘How to partner with patients: Educational tools and strategies’ as part of the session ‘Management of toxicities of the most recent drugs in the breast cancer field’. One of the main points I wanted to emphasise was that patients need clear instructions when taking oral cancer treatments to avoid drug-food interactions. Which pill to take at what time?
But the real highlight of this conference were the wonderful people I met! Thank you all so much!”
