Salma El Menawi: Our paper on the predictive significance of pretreatment 18F-FDG PET volumetric parameters
Salma El Menawi, Clinical Research Senior Supervisor at Children’s Cancer Hospital Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Excited to share our paper on the predictive significance of pretreatment 18F-FDG PET volumetric parameters in pediatric patients with locally advanced undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma!
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a rare pediatric cancer, often diagnosed at advanced stages. Identifying patients at higher risk of treatment failure is crucial for tailored approaches. Our retrospective study examined 32 pediatric patients who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT prior to initial treatment.
It highlights the potential of WB-MTV parameters as significant prognostic factors for disease progression in pediatric patients with locally advanced undifferentiated NPC. However, larger prospective studies are needed for validation.
Kudos to the entire team for their dedication and contribution to improving outcomes in pediatric oncology.”
