Tatiana McHardy: Over the last 20 years of my career at the ICR, I’m incredibly proud of my contribution in the development of drugs that are currently in clinical trials

Quoting from The Institute of Cancer Research’s LinkedIn:

“Over the last 20 years of my career at the ICR, I’m incredibly proud of my contribution to the development of drugs that are currently in clinical trials. One of them – a PKB inhibitor is in phase III for the treatment of breast and prostate cancer.’’

Dr Tatiana McHardy works in the ICR’s Medicinal Chemistry Team 3 under the supervision of Dr Gary Newton and also has an active role at our Scientific Officers Association (SOA) being the Technician Commitment rep and the social media rep.

She shares more about her work and experience at the ICR below:
‘’The research project in which I’m working now is looking at how targeting ERAP-1 protein may activate the response of our immune system to some cancer cells – making them more ‘visible’, due to the alteration of the protein repertoire at their surface.

‘’In November 2021, I was awarded a Research Institute Technician Award for my contribution to the Technician Commitment. This has been significant in helping to recognize the importance of technical staff and recognize the vital role they play at the ICR.

‘’I also took part in the first Herschel Female Leadership program organized by MI Talent (Midlands Innovation), which supports the professional development of Female technical staff in Higher Education and Research Institutes – which I hope will increase my leadership skills and help me to mentor other members of the SO community here at the ICR.”
