Beatrice Okumu represented City Cancer Challenge in a stakeholders forum to discuss strengthening cervical referral pathway and management-an implementation study on CanSCREEN
Beatrice Okumu, City Manager at City Cancer Challenge, posted on LinkedIn:
“Yesterday, I was privileged to represent City Cancer Challenge in a stakeholders forum to discuss strengthening cervical referral pathway and management-an implementation study on CanSCREEN. This is in response to the 90-70-90 rule, the WHO global strategy on elimination of cervical cancer. Based on the feedback from the women interviewed, they shared the factors that promoted uptake of screening services for example, promotion by healthcare workers and integration of services. Barriers to screening included fear and cost. The facilities implementing the canSCREEN also shared their experience with the platform for improvement. Quality data is crucial in making informed decisions.
The clarion call was for stakeholders to work together to eliminate preventable diseases like cervical cancer.”
