Ryan McDonald: Work anniversary at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Ryan McDonald, Senior Manager of Medical and Science Communications at The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, shared on LinkedIn:
“Today marks one year since I joined The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I made the difficult decision to leave a career I spent a decade building as a journalist, editor, and leader to join the unknown world of media relations.
There have been some major learning curves along the way, but I’m glad to say I’ve been happy with my decision. One of the biggest benefits of my career change has been the extra time I have had with my daughter.
There’s no more valuable currency to me than time, and my remote status and flexible work schedule has led me to experience countless milestones I otherwise would have missed.
For instance, she took her first unassisted steps today. She left the couch without any hesitation and walked several steps toward me to read one of her favorite books. I couldn’t imagine the possibility of missing that moment and glad I didn’t have to. Sofia Kay, thank you for the best work-anniversary gift I could have asked for.”
