“What an incredible honor to receive the Physician Leader of the Year award from the Illinois State Medical Society. Thank you Dr. Kathy Tynus for the nomination!

These last few years have been a roller coaster for healthcare workers and our lives, both personal and professional, have been changed in so many ways. I am especially grateful for my friends and colleagues, mentors, and sponsors, who have supported me, guided me, been there for me, and helped me along the way. And so incredibly thankful for my family who are constantly picking up the slack at home when I am working, traveling, in meetings, or just busy. And my husband who has not just solo parented more times than I can count these last few years, but has also been so supportive in everything I do.

From the amazing people I work with IMPACT4HC to Women In Medicine to The University of Illinois Cancer Center thank you for everything you have done and continue to do for our patients, for our colleagues, for our students, trainees, and each other.

Such an incredible honor to be given this award, and a privilege to be able to do what I do every day.”

Shikha Jain is an associate professor of medicine in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Illinois Cancer Center in Chicago. She is the Director of Communication Strategies in Medicine and the Associate Director of Oncology Communication & Digital Innovation. She is a founder and Chair of the Women In Medicine Summit, and founder and President of the Women in Medicine® non-profit. She is the co-founder of the Rush Center for the Advancement of Women in Health Care. Dr. Jain was named a Rising Star in Medicine by Medscape in 2020 and one of Modern Healthcare’s Top 25 Emerging Leaders in 2019, and was also awarded the Rising Star award by the LEAD Oncology Conference in 2019 and nominated in 2020 as a Women Leader in Oncology.
