Launching the Lead from Lived Experience Cancer Leadership Program – VCCC Alliance

VCCC Alliance shared a post on LinkedIn:

“It was wonderful to see more than 60 people with lived experience of cancer – consumers – at the launch of a leading-edge program to amplify the leadership skills of this group, on September 8.

The collaborative, Victorian government-funded Cancer Consumer-Led Research Partnership is now delivering a consumer leadership program – Lead from Lived Experience: Enhancing cancer care.

Lead from Lived Experience participants are leaders who will drive meaningful change and improvement in cancer care.

Twenty-one consumers are undertaking the inaugural leadership program, which will be evaluated as part of a research project.

The Cancer Consumer-Led Research Partnership is truly transformative for the sector – bringing together five organisations who are collaborating for the greater good for all those experiencing cancer in Victoria. Thanks to all the partners – VCCC Alliance, Monash Partners Comprehensive Cancer Consortium, Cancer Council Victoria, Regional Trials Network – Victoria and the University of Melbourne.

We’re grateful to the Victorian Government for funding this visionary partnership and we’re looking forward to the impact these consumer leaders will have on cancer care!”

Pauline Ryan, Program Manager, Statewide Consumer Leadership Program at VCCC Alliance, shared VCCC Alliance‘s post on LinkedIn, adding:

“Today was another “pinch me” moment, an incredible reminder of the privilege of being part of a pioneering program. One where lived experience expertise is the fabric of everything we do.

The energy, passion, and drive to improve the cancer sector in the room was beyond palpable. This is because of the lived experience leaders involved throughout the program, their strategic direction, vision, and commitment are incredible.

This program has evolved beyond what we could have imagined, and that growth is a direct reflection of all the lived experience leaders who have contributed along the way.

Today is an acknowledgment of these individuals (over 60 individuals with lived experience of cancer to date) and a thank you to the partner organisations for their commitment to this program. As well as a big thank you to the Victorian Department of Health for their investment in this program.”
