Loizos G. Loizou: Congratulations to ACT for Children for Addressing the Survival Gap in Childhood Cancer

Loizos G. Loizou, Professor, Medical School at University of Nicosia, Cyprus, added a comment to World Child Cancer USA‘s post:

“Truly inspiring work! Congratulations to ACT for Children and partners for addressing the survival gap in childhood cancer through such a holistic approach — from access to medicines, to training healthcare workers, and supporting families.”

Quoting World Child Cancer USA‘s post:

“In Honduras, ACT for Children works with the Fundación Hondureña para el Niño con Cáncer and the local hospital to provide critical drugs for treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). In addition to providing drugs, ACT also focuses on training health care workers, ensuring they are well equipped, and provide essential family support to reduce treatment abandonment.

The survival gap in pediatric cancer is driven by unequal access, not curability. And ACT for Children is a multi-stakeholder effort that brings together industry, clinicians, and patient organizations to build the full ecosystem needed to cure a child with cancer across Central America, Africa and Asia.

Check out a selection of photos from our recent visit alongside fellow ACT partners, Resonance & Servier, and follow for more behind-the-scenes looks at our work around the globe!”
