Ruzanna Papyan: Meet the Experts of VIRO 2025

The Global Voices in Renal Oncology (VIRO) Virtual Congress, organized by OncoDaily, will be held on September 11–12, 2025. Chaired by Dr. Rana R. As Co-Chair of VIRO, Dr. Rana McKay (University of California, San Diego) opened the congress with her talk on
“Future Directions: Emerging Agents and Combinations.”

She emphasized the momentum in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) research, highlighting how novel immunotherapies, targeted drugs, and rational combination strategies are reshaping patient care. Dr. McKay underscored the importance of personalized, biomarker-driven approaches and global collaboration, aiming to optimize survival and quality of life worldwide.

Spotlight on Ruzanna Papyan

Dr. Ruzanna Papyan is the Chief of the Pediatric Oncology Clinic at the Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Armenia and an Assistant Professor at Yerevan State Medical University. She also serves as Co-Chair of the SIOP Global Health Network AYA Working Group, where she actively contributes to advancing pediatric and adolescent oncology worldwide.

At the Global Voices in Renal Oncology (VIRO) Virtual Congress 2025, Dr. Papyan will present on “Treating Wilms Tumor in Low-Middle-Income Countries” in the Pediatric Renal Tumors session. Her talk will highlight the unique challenges and opportunities in delivering high-quality care for children with renal tumors in resource-limited settings.

Dr. Papyan will discuss

Barriers to optimal care for Wilms tumor in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Strategies to improve outcomes, including collaboration, protocol adaptation, and early diagnosis.
The role of global networks and partnerships in supporting equitable pediatric oncology care.

By focusing on Wilms tumor management in LMICs, Dr. Papyan underscores the urgent need for global collaboration to bridge disparities in childhood cancer outcomes. Her leadership reflects a commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of geography, has access to effective, life-saving cancer treatment.
