Pat Garcia-Gonzalez Reflects on a Milestone in Breast Cancer Treatment Access in Kenya
Pat Garcia-Gonzalez, Chief Executive Officer at The Max Foundation, shared on LinkedIn:
“Today, I’m proud to reflect on a powerful milestone here at The Max Foundation: one year ago, we launched a program to provide access to treatment for advanced breast cancer in Kenya in conjunction with Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital and The Nairobi Hospital. Since then, over 200 women have benefitted from this program.
Additionally, in the past year, in collaboration with Kenyan Network of Cancer Organizations and ABC Global Alliance, we’ve expanded access to breast cancer education and care for women who have long been underserved.
As my colleague Cathy Scheepers, shares, this work is not easy. But it is essential. And it is deeply human.
Acting with humanity is not just about responding to crisis – it’s about building systems of care, equity, and dignity that endure. It’s about standing with communities, not just in moments of need, but in the long journey toward health and hope.
To our team, our partners, and most of all, the women who inspire us every day: thank you. You are the heartbeat of this mission
Let’s keep going.”
