Tracey O’Brien: An Inspiring Start to the Inaugural NSW Cancer Summit 2025
Tracey O’Brien, Chief Cancer Officer and CEO of Cancer Institute NSW, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“What an inspiring start to the Cancer Institute NSW’s inaugural NSW Cancer Summit.
Yvonne Weldon delivered a heartfelt Welcome to Country with speakers like Professor Jeff Dunn, and Mike Lovas, and the Honorable Ryan Park, Minister for Health, helping set the tone for day 1, presenting with such passion and conviction, leaving everyone in the room energised and focused on the challenges and opportunities ahead.
More than 60 speakers led our concurrent sessions to share some fascinating work taking place in areas like precision medicine, equity in cancer control, and big data and AI.
Preeminent Aboriginal health leaders and advocates Geri Wilson-Matenga, Nicole Turner, Jacinta Elston, Anthony Carter, Zarayn Knight, Lesa Towers and Darren Green helped spotlight the efforts underway to support and empower Aboriginal communities impacted by cancer. Their session reinforced the role we all have to play in shaping better futures for people and families.
Day 2 is only a few hours away. If you’re registered to attend, I look forward to seeing you there.”
