Nikolas Stoecklein: Circulating Tumor Cells Are Still Alive

Nikolas Stoecklein, Professor for Experimental Surgical Oncology at the Medical Faculty and University Hospital of the Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU), shared a post on LinkedIn about a paper by Charles S. Dai et al. published in Cancer Cell:

CTCs are still alive! This fantastic review from the Haber group in Cancer Cell by Cell Press discusses the importance of CTCs for translational cancer research as well as complementary diagnostic tool for clinical decision making.

It also points out the relevance of large volume analysis (e.g. by Diagnostic Leukapheresis) for the CTC field to overcome the limitations due to their low concentration in blood.

A must-read for all interested in liquid biopsy!”

Title: Circulating tumor cells: Blood-based detection, molecular biology, and clinical applications
