Richard Shadyac: The results from this research could lead to the development of more effective drugs to combat childhood cancer

Richard Shadyac, President and Chief Executive Officer at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – ALSAC, recently posted on LinkedIn:

St. Jude researchers have long understood the path to success — better treatments, more cures, more lives saved — is through collaboration.

To that end, and through your support, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has just announced a $13 million investment in a research collaborative with Columbia, Duke and Stanford universities. This is part of a larger, $80 million commitment to six collaboratives that will increase to $160 million by 2027.

The new collaborative will focus on G-protein coupled receptors (GPCR), vital proteins that impact human health and disease, and have been linked to or implicated in more than 100 human diseases and disorders. The results from this research and collaboration could lead to the development of more effective drugs to combat childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

Again, this could not happen without the generous and compassionate family of donors, partners and volunteers who support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude. Thank you. ”
