The urgency of acting now – Elekta Foundation
Elekta Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“At the 2nd Global Cervical Cancer Elimination Forum in Bali, Lacy Hubbard, CEO of the Elekta Foundation, joined over 300 global leaders united by a shared goal: expanding access to HPV vaccination, screening, and treatment, and moving the world closer to making cervical cancer the first cancer to be eliminated. The forum, hosted by the Government of Indonesia, focused this year’s discussions on shifting from commitment to action, especially in scaling up screening and treatment in low- and middle-income settings where critical gaps still exist.
Key takeaways from the forum included the urgency of acting now, with the 2030 goal quickly approaching; the need to reach 70% screening coverage through real investment and prioritization; the importance of locally adaptable innovation focused on implementation at scale; the essential role of strong, cross-sector partnerships, because no one can do this alone; and above all, a shared commitment to ensuring that no woman is left behind.
These insights reinforce Elekta Foundation’s mission: to improve cancer care access in underserved countries. Bold global commitments, such as Rwanda’s Mission2027, serve as powerful reminders of what’s possible when urgency, innovation, and equity come together.”
