15 Posts Not to Miss from EACR 2025
The European Association for Cancer Research (EACR 2025) Congress took place in Lisbon, Portugal, from June 16 to 19, bringing together the global cancer research community. Scientists, clinicians, and innovators from over 60 countries attended the event, which served as a leading platform for showcasing the latest advances in fundamental, translational, and preclinical cancer research.
This year’s congress features a dynamic and multidisciplinary scientific program, including high-impact keynote lectures, symposia, poster sessions, early career scientist forums, and dedicated workshops on emerging technologies. From tumor evolution and metastasis to cancer metabolism, immuno-oncology, and AI-driven discovery, the EACR 2025 agenda reflects the breadth and depth of modern oncology research.
With over 1,700 abstracts presented and a record number of attendees, the congress provides invaluable opportunities for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaborative discussion across academic, clinical, and industry sectors. Special focus is given to nurturing the next generation of cancer researchers, with dedicated sessions and recognition for early-career investigators and rising stars.
Now in its 31st edition, the EACR Congress continues to be a hallmark of scientific excellence, uniting the global research community in the shared goal of accelerating progress against cancer. The 2025 meeting underscores EACR’s commitment to innovation, diversity, and fostering scientific dialogue that shapes the future of cancer research.

“Carlos Caldas ended EACR2025 on a high with the closing EMBO Keynote Lecture! An impressive demonstration of how Caldasians over the past 25+ years have uncovered breast cancer to be 11 distinct diseases, and generated excellent patient-derived models to study them!”
“I’m honored to be here presenting my research at EACR 2025, but my heart is heavy.
As I stand in Lisbon, my home country Iran is under fire. My family, my friends, and millions of innocent people are living through war and fear. Being far from them at such a time is deeply painful. Every part of me wants to be with my loved ones. Yet I stand here—hoping that science, peace, and international solidarity still matter.
But this pain is not only ours. My heart also aches for the innocent people in Israel—who are suffering in this conflict too. This is not the war of ordinary people. This is a war between governments, not between human beings!! On both sides, people are dying, grieving, surviving.
I believe in science. I believe in peace. I believe in the shared humanity that connects us across borders.
To anyone else who’s walking this strange path of showing up while grieving: I see you!”
European Association for Cancer Research (EACR):
