Voice of the families: Chilot and his father, Woldie Asemaraw – CANCaRe Africa

“Voice of the families post #31 Chilot and his father
Chilot and his father, Woldie Asemaraw, are from the Sanja district in Ethiopia.
Chilot lives with his parents and six siblings. Six months ago, he got sick, after unsuccessful treatment at a private clinic, he was referred to University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital (UoGCSH), located about 100 kilometers away, where he was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma.
Chilot has been receiving chemotherapy and surgical follow up at the UoGCSH. To afford the treatment, transportation, and lodging, his father borrowed a large sum of money and left his farming work to remain with his son, placing severe financial pressure on the family.
The intersecting medical, psychological, and financial hardships have made this an extraordinarily challenging period for Chilot and his family, highlighting the urgent need for sustained support. With unwavering hope in his eyes, ‘I pray my son recovers quickly with your support, so we can return to our normal live’, his father said. Appropriate consent given.”
