Soumen Das: Proud to launch Project Pink Alert at Presidency University
Soumen Das, Head of the Department of Surgical Oncology at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Cancer Hospital and CEO and Co-Founder of ArrowsUP, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Proud to launch ‘Project Pink Alert’ at Presidency University – a step towards a cancer-aware generation.
India continues to witness a rising burden of cancer, largely due to delayed detection and lack of screening. At The Institute of Breast Disease, Kolkata, Kolkata, NCRI Hospital, in collaboration with Asian Medical Foundation and ArrowUp, we have taken a step forward through the launch of Project Pink Alert – a structured initiative to raise cancer awareness among college and university students.
After reaching over 1.8 lakh school students through our school-based program, we are now engaging the youth at the next level.
Our journey began at Presidency University, Kolkata, with a 3-hour interactive workshop at PCM Auditorium on 17.5.25, attended by more than 100 students from the Department of Mathematics. We discussed the basics of cancer prevention, early detection, and myths surrounding cancer, followed by a vibrant Q&A session.
Special thanks to Kanad Basu, Ph.D. for leading the initiative, Professor Avishek Adhikari and the entire team at Presidency for their exceptional support, and Sanjoy Chatterjee, Chairman, NASSCOM Regional Council, for his continued encouragement.
Grateful to my fellow speakers Dr. Tanmoy Mandal , Dr. Sayantan Mukhopadhyay, and Dr. Anowar Ali Mallick for making the session impactful. This marks the beginning of our campus outreach under Project Pink Alert. Together, let’s empower our youth to become ambassadors of cancer awareness. Let’s fight together.”
