Lisa Lacasse: Thanking Senators and Volunteers for Their Leadership in Advancing Cancer Research Funding
Lisa Lacasse, President of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, shared a post on LinkedIn by ACS CAN, adding:
“There’s nothing quite like witnessing the power of our volunteer advocates in their blue shirts on Capitol Hill. I am incredibly grateful for the volunteers who raise their all-important voices to urge Congress to protect funding for lifesaving cancer research.
I echo American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN)’s gratitude to the Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Collins, and the Vice Chair, Senator Murray, for holding this hearing. I appreciate the leadership of Senator Capito, Chair of the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee, and Senator Baldwin, the Ranking Member, as champions of biomedical and cancer research.
And I echo a special thank you to Senator Britt for recognizing ACS CAN Alabama volunteer and cancer survivor Gary Cornelius. Thank you for elevating the voices of your constituents!”
Quoting American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network’s post:
” ‘I’m not giving up on patients. I’m not giving up on cures.’ – Senator Murray. Today on Capitol Hill, ACS CAN cancer advocates from across the country attended the Senate Appropriations hearing, Biomedical Research: Keeping America’s Edge in Innovation, to emphasize the critical need of bipartisan support for medical research in the fight against cancer.
We’d like to thank Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Senator Collins and Vice Chair Senator Murray for holding this hearing and opening the floor to the importance of Cancer Research. We’d also like to thank Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee Chair Senator Capito and Ranking Member Senator Baldwin for their leadership as champions of biomedical and cancer research.
Special thanks to Senator Britt for highlighting ACS CAN Alabama volunteer and cancer survivor Gary Cornelius’ story about the impact of research funding on his cancer journey. Cancer research saves lives.”
