Binaytara Foundation Cancer Center – Outcomes of the Health Insurance Advocacy Dialogue in Nepal
Binaytara Foundation Cancer Center posted on LinkedIn:
“We have initiated efforts to make health insurance more effective and to ensure its financial sustainability. The successful implementation of health insurance in Nepal relies on studies, research, suggestions, and outcomes of discussions conducted by various stakeholders, organizations, individuals, and experts. These play a vital role in turning our policies into practical implementation.
I could not attend the advocacy dialogue organized by Binaytara Foundation and Swasthya Khabar Foundation on the theme “Health Insurance in Nepal: Current Challenges and Opportunities.” However, I was able to watch the live broadcast. The organizers had invited intellectuals and experts related to health insurance for the discussion.
A report summarizing the issues raised and conclusions drawn during the dialogue has been shared with us. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the organizers and the entire team involved for this valuable effort. The insights and recommendations collected through this process will certainly help strengthen the Health Insurance Board and make its work more effective.
We will thoroughly review the report and incorporate the relevant suggestions into the implementation of the health insurance program. Some of the suggestions may be of immediate use, while others may be useful in the long term. Nonetheless, such deliberations and discussions are instrumental in guiding us forward.
As we receive this report today, I also want to express our commitment to implementing the recommendations provided therein.
Chandra Bahadur Thapa Chhetri, Chairperson, Health Insurance Board.”
