Empowering Oncologists: Why is Oncology a Marathon Career?

In this episode of Empowering Oncologists, host Jasmine Kamboj speaks with Dr. Eric Bernicker about navigating burnout, the power of mentorship, and staying centered on patient care. He shares insights on the future of telehealth, the role of multidisciplinary teams, and how bringing care closer to patients can transform outcomes. Dr. Bernicker also reflects on what it means to be named a FASCO and how involvement in ASCO has shaped his journey in oncology.

Jasmine Kamboj is a committed leader in community oncology, practicing at the Mayo Clinic Health System and the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. She serves on both the Board and Policy Committee of the Minnesota Society of Clinical Oncology, where she helps shape regional oncology policy. Nationally, she is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), serving on its International Affairs Committee and leading the Policy Communities of Practice.

Dr. Kamboj also advises the Rural Cancer Institute, working to advance cancer care in underserved communities. In addition to her clinical and policy work, she hosts the Empowering Oncologists podcast and is a member of the Editorial Board at OncoDaily. She is also a member of the Community Oncology Alliance (COA), advocating for accessible, community-based cancer care across the U.S.
