Michael Sapienza: Critical cancer research funding could be cut by 57%
Michael Sapienza, Chief Executive Officer of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This Tuesday, March 11, 2025, Congress will begin voting on a Continuing Resolution (CR) that would slash critical cancer research funding by 57% for the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP) at the Department of Defense.
The House’s proposed $859 million reduction in high-impact cancer research at the CDMRP will have a catastrophic impact on the scientific and research communities efforts in lifesaving advances for colorectal cancer treatment — the second cause of cancer death of Americans.
Please call your House Representative and urge them to vote NO on the FY25 CR and to fully fund the CDMRP. Find contact information for your Representative here.”
