“Obesity is strongly linked to 13 types of cancer.
On World Obesity Day experts discussed this pressing issue at the European Parliament.
Prof. Volkan Yumuk, from the European Association for the Study of Obesity highlighted: ‘The prevalence of obesity is increasing. It seems something is profoundly wrong. The systems are failing people.’
According to Laurent Castillo MEP (EPP, France): ‘Obesity is a silent pandemic. And one out of two adults is considered overweight. This has to change.’
Tackling obesity could help prevent a wide range of life-threatening diseases.
It’s time for coordinated EU action!”
