Ronan Kelly: A new era in cancer detection – the launch of the Texas Cancer Interception Institute
Ronan Kelly, Chief of Oncology at Baylor Scott and White Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I am pleased to announce a new era in cancer detection has begun!
This morning in Dallas we launched the Texas Cancer Interception Institute – a first of its kind program utilizing cutting edge biomarker technology, circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) blood-based assays offered on a huge scale at the primary care level and state of the art AI advances to screen x-rays, CT scans and digital pathology images in ways that were not possible before.
Our aim – to play a leading role in the national cancer plans goal of decreasing cancer mortality by 50% over the next 25 years. This can only be accomplished by enhanced population-based screening/detection methods empowering everyone to test on a frequent basis when and where they want.
Our new logo called the ‘Sequencing Star’ is inspired by the Texas flag where the lone star is encircled by a circular representation of a typical genomic sequencing report.
Our website can inspire others to look towards a brighter future where we start to move away from being reactive when patients present with alarm symptoms and become much more proactive to intercept cancer before it becomes invasive and metastatic.
More information can be seen on this Good Morning Texas interview.”
