We are honored to feature Dr. Catherine Metayer, a global leader in childhood cancer research, in this special episode of the PAPERI Bright Minds Series – premiering on International Childhood Cancer Day (February 15, 2025).
Dr. Catherine Metayer is:
- A Professor at UC Berkeley, School of Public Health
- Director of CIRCLE (Center for Integrative Research on Childhood Leukemia and the Environment)
- Former Chair of the Childhood Leukemia International Consortium (CLIC)
Her pioneering research explores genetic and environmental risk factors for childhood leukemia, testicular cancer, and other early-onset solid tumors – shedding light on how chemical exposures, diet, and genetic predisposition influence cancer development.
In this session, we discuss:
- The role of genetics and environmental exposures in childhood leukemia
- How chemicals, diet, and radiation contribute to cancer risk
