Amol Akhade: Does CTRT improve outcomes in gall bladder cancer?

Amol Akhade, Consultant Medical Oncologist and Hemato-oncologist at Suyog Cancer Clinics, shared the following on X:

“Adjuvant chemo vs. chemo followed by CTRT in gall bladder cancer. Phase 3 RCT from India. Accelerate trial with 94 patients. Post-RO resection: 49 got chemo, 45 got chemo followed by CTRT. Median OS NR vs. 34.56 months. Median RFS 51.96 vs. 43.99 months.

So, the addition of CTRT to chemo alone does not improve outcomes in resected gall bladder cancer. What are your thoughts on this? A small trial, affected by the COVID pandemic, but probably with the right conclusion.”
