” ‘A medical team also needs a common goal – for example, improving a patient’s health. Here the subgoals might differ, as different specialties may interpret guidelines differently and some doctors might struggle to incorporate others’ advice.
In this scenario, it’s important to drop the ego slightly and remember that the final goal is the same – it can be helpful to start team meetings with a reminder of that goal and ask oneself and others to think about the goal holistically.’ ”
