Dec 20, 2024, 18:34

The SWOG/Hope Foundation Impact Award program

The SWOG/Hope Foundation Impact Award program is designed to support the early and conceptual stages of research that advances SWOG studies.

The proposed work should either utilize data from completed SWOG trials or be directly applicable to future clinical trials within SWOG and the National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN).

These projects may involve scientific risk but have the potential to result in breakthroughs in specific areas or lead to the development of novel techniques, agents, methodologies, models, or applications that could significantly impact cancer research.

Program Goals

This funding is intended to facilitate subsequent extramural funding from other sources, which will be a key measure of success for the program. Additionally, publications that acknowledge SWOG and The Hope Foundation will also be used as indicators of success.

Key Dates

– LOI due date for 2025: January 15 at 5pm ET
– Full application deadline: To be provided after invitation.

About SWOG

SWOG

The SWOG Cancer Research Network is one of the oldest and largest publicly funded cancer research organizations in the United States. Founded in 1956 by Dr. Grant Taylor, a pediatrician from Texas, it was established in Houston as part of a National Cancer Institute (NCI) initiative to test treatments for childhood cancers through regional networks of physicians.

Initially named the Southwest Cancer Chemotherapy Study Group, the organization later became the Southwest Oncology Group, which was eventually abbreviated to SWOG. In 2018, it adopted its current name, SWOG Cancer Research Network.

Over time, what began as the efforts of a single physician grew into a global community of over 20,000 professionals affiliated with more than 1,300 hospitals, clinics, and cancer centers worldwide.
