”Earlier this week I chaired a session at World Health Organization’s 2nd WLPF: Modelling the ecosystem for sustainable local production to improve access.
We discussed examples of government action, industry action and the promise of improving regulatory capacity and harmonization alongside strengthening financing. Strategies like fostering public-private partnerships, flexible financing options, regulatory harmonization, stakeholder coordination, and leveraging previous access platforms (e.g. built for HIV, TB, and Malaria) to facilitate access to other meds were covered.
It’s clear the solutions are available, it’s time for industry and partners to implement them for sustainable local production to become a reality. ”
