Roupen Odabashian: The worst way to present a Healthtech startup pitch or idea

Roupen Odabashian, Internal Medicine Physician and Hematology/Oncology Fellow at Karmanos Cancer Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“The worst way to present a Healthtech startup pitch or idea:

When you work in healthcare, you’re talking to people who have spent years reading, researching, and analyzing academic papers.

Avoid vague terms like:

  •  ‘Our product revolutionizes healthcare’
  •  ‘We change the way physicians care for patients’
  •  ‘Our software decreases burnout’

These phrases lack specificity. Instead, use clear, measurable language like:

  •  ‘Our product decreases the time needed to see a patient by X minutes.’
  •  ‘Our software saves physicians Y minutes per day.’
  •  ‘Our app reduces the cost of patient care by X%.’

Numbers. Numbers. Numbers.

Avoid vague terms. Be specific.”
