Nelson Dusetti: The Second Franco-Argentine collaborative meeting on Pancreatic Cancer

“Last week, the second Franco-Argentine collaborative meeting on pancreatic cancer brought together experts from the Institut Paoli-Calmettes (IPC) and the CRCM – Centre de Recherche en Cancérologie de Marseille, including Juan Iovanna and Brice Chanez alongside Bruno Quesnel, Director of the Research and Innovation Division at the Institut national du cancer and the Cancer Thematic Institute of INSERM, Corinne Bousquet from the Centre de Recherche en Cancérologie de Toulouse, and Cecilia Mallmann from the Centre de Recherches Cliniques de Marseille, APHM (Assistance Publique – Hopitaux de Marseille).
Members of the Argentine scientific community, including key authorities and leading researchers from CONICET, actively participated in the meeting. Notable attendees included Claudia Capurro, Vice President of CONICET, Eduardo Chuluyan, Director of the Center for Pharmacological and Botanical Studies (CEFYBO) at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA)., Martin Monte from the Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales, UBA, Depetris Frederic from Institut français d’Argentine among others.
Held at the Cultural Science Center (C3) in Buenos Aires, the meeting focused on structuring the Franco-Argentine Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research, aiming to strengthen collaboration in studying pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC).
The center’s core objectives include advancing basic, translational, preclinical, and clinical research, integrating bioinformatics as a vital tool for knowledge progression, and training the next generation of researchers, from undergraduate to postgraduate levels. The initiative also seeks to consolidate high-level expertise in this critical field.
The center emphasizes the need for collaborative clinical trials with the pharmaceutical industry and aims to foster public policies prioritizing pancreatic cancer research. It also proposes creating an observatory to collect comprehensive patient data, guiding national public health strategies.
This partnership marks a significant step forward in tackling the global challenge of pancreatic cancer through innovative and international collaboration.”
Nelson Dusetti is the Scientific Director of the company Predicting Med (CSO) and Chair of TRANSLATE-IT CRCM. He is also research director at INSERM. He is the Head of the Department of Translational Research and Innovative Therapies at CRCM.
