Elizabeth Howell: Excited to be the keynote speaker at the CDC Charles C. Shepard Science Awards

The Charles C. Shepard Science Awards are designed to honor exceptional manuscripts of original research authored by scientists from the CDC or ATSDR, published in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.

The awards serve two main purposes:

  • To acknowledge outstanding scientific achievements by authors affiliated with the CDC and ATSDR.
  • To commemorate the legacy of Charles C. Shepard, whose career exemplified a commitment to scientific excellence.

Elizabeth Howell, Professor and Chair of Ob/Gyn, Perelman School of Medicine at Penn Medicine, shared a post on X about the award:

“I’m excited to be the keynote speaker at the CDC Charles C. Shepard Science Awards on October 24th. I will discuss my team’s research on quality of care and health inequities and highlight our efforts at Penn Medicine to tackle the maternal health crisis.”

Penn Medicine OBGYN Department shared this post, adding:

“We’re incredibly proud of Elizabeth Howell for being selected to be the keynote speaker at the CDC Charles C. Shepard Science Awards!

Her talk will showcase both her team’s research and Penn Medicine’s collaborative efforts to improve maternal health.”
