“NCI-K Leads Awareness Campaign on World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.
Yesterday, October 12, 2024, on World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (WHPCDay24), a major event sponsored by the National Cancer Institute of Kenya and organised by cancer survivors and caregivers brought together stakeholders like Jidhaminishujaa, Kenya Hospices and Palliative Care Association, Marie Stopes Kenya, Champions of Hope, Equity Afia, KILELE Health, Kenya Red Cross and others to commemorate the day at Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital.
Under the theme ‘Walk the Cancer Talk,’ the event aimed to raise awareness about palliative care services in Nairobi County and beyond.
The National Cancer Institute of Kenya team was led by the Board of Trustees Chair, Timothy Olweny.
As part of its mandate to raise awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment, the National Cancer Institute of Kenya organized this event to educate the public about palliative care services.
The Institute also provides support for cancer survivors, including rehabilitation, counselling, and social services.”
