Oliver Bogler and Irene Newsham’s Personal Experience with Breast Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment – Train at NCI
Train at NCI shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Train at NCI Director, Dr. Oliver Bogler and his wife, Dr. Irene Newsham — both cancer researchers — share their personal experience receiving the same breast cancer diagnosis and treatment plans.”
Irene Newsham: I think you have to be involved in your own healthcare and that’s nice for you and that’s one of the things I learned is that no one’s cancer is the same and so you have to follow your doctor’s advice but you also have to be part of that conversation because some things work for some people that don’t work for other people.
Oliver Bogler: Definitely and I think it was also interesting to be a cancer biologist and to be working at a cancer center and to be experiencing now the patient’s journey that certainly opened my eyes in many ways having spent my time otherwise in the lab and you know in working with trainees and things like that so yeah definitely.
