ACCC’s 50th Anniversary: Five decades of innovation and contributions to the field of oncology
The Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) is celebrating its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of innovation and contributions to the field of oncology.
The Association of Cancer Care Centers (ACCC) is an organization dedicated to promoting quality cancer care across various settings. Established in 1974, ACCC serves as a vital resource for cancer care providers, advocating for comprehensive cancer programs and facilitating collaboration among professionals in the field.
Through its initiatives, the ACCC aims to improve patient outcomes by fostering collaboration and sharing best practices among cancer care providers. The association plays a crucial role in advocating for policies that enhance access to quality cancer care and supports research efforts that advance the field of oncology.
ACCC represents a diverse community of nearly 30,000 multidisciplinary practitioners from over 1,700 hospitals and practices nationwide. Its members include comprehensive cancer programs, health systems, academic centers, community cancer programs, and private practices. The organization provides ongoing support and information to help its members navigate the complexities of cancer care delivery, including programmatic, operational, fiscal, and clinical challenges.
The Association of Cancer Care Centers (ACCC) has a rich history, with its official journal first published in 1986. Initially released quarterly, the journal transitioned to a bi-monthly format in 1989 and was rebranded as Oncology Issues. This publication has since remained the only journal focused on the operational and programmatic issues impacting multidisciplinary cancer care teams.
The ACCC hosts events such as the National Oncology Conference, which brings together healthcare professionals to discuss innovations in cancer treatment and care delivery. The organization also focuses on education and training, offering resources that cover various aspects of cancer care, including reimbursement strategies, patient engagement, and health equity.
“We are grateful to the members, providers, and supporters who have contributed to these achievements and are excited about continued collaboration to advance cancer care delivery in the future.” – ACCC
The Association of Cancer Care Centers (ACCC) celebrated its 50th anniversary with a series of events and initiatives highlighting its contributions to the field of oncology. This rebranding was officially announced during the ACCC’s 50th Annual Meeting and Cancer Center Business Summit held in Washington, D.C.
During the anniversary celebration, ACCC emphasized its commitment to innovation, education, and advocacy in cancer care. Members participated in discussions on various topics, including workforce challenges, quality improvement, and precision medicine.
