Atrium Health Levine Cancer Centre Hosts 3rd Hematology Malignancies Congress

Atrium Health Levine Cancer recently concluded its Hematology Malignancies Congress, held on October 4-5, 2024, at the Omni Hotel in Charlotte, NC.

The biennial event attracted a diverse group of  175-200 healthcare professionals, including physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, and pharmacists, all committed to advancing the field of hematology.

The congress featured a robust program focused on critical topics such as lymphoma, leukemia, myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and multiple myeloma. Attendees participated in engaging general sessions that provided the latest insights into treatment advancements and patient management strategies, emphasizing collaborative approaches to care within communities.

Keynote presentations and panel discussions showcased emerging research and best practices, fostering an environment of knowledge sharing and collaboration. Participants had the opportunity to interact with leading experts in the field, enhancing their understanding of the complexities associated with hematologic malignancies.

Dr. Ruben A. Mesa, MD, FACP, serves as the president and executive director of Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute (LCI) and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center. Additionally, he holds the position of vice dean for cancer programs and professor of medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He is an international expert in hematologic cancers, particularly myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). Through his tireless efforts, Dr. Mesa continues to drive progress in the understanding and treatment of hematologic malignancies, offering hope to those affected by these complex diseases.
