Shahrin Ahmed, Medical Specialist at the Canadian Cancer Society, shared on X:
“World Cancer Research Day 2024:
The significance of cancer research is raised by World Cancer Day, which is celebrated every year on September 24. Increasing survival and reducing the global burden of cancer is a key driver for advances in prevention and therapeutic strategies.
The theme of World Cancer Research Day this year is ‘Innovation in Cancer Research Drives Progress Toward Health Equity’, highlighting the importance of innovation.
Innovation is a key component of cancer research, including prevention, screening, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment.
Geneva will host the World Cancer Congress from September 17th to 19th. Highlighted multiple sessions on the most recent developments in cancer care, particularly the way artificial intelligence is transforming cancer care. Improving early detection and diagnosis leads to more accurate and timely interventions.
Various innovations were showcased by the Congress to close the equity gap in cancer care. The development of apps to reduce the psychosocial impact of cancer testing is included in this package, which entails digital health solutions, molecular diagnostic technologies that enhance pathology services, and the development of apps.”
