Daniel J. George Received KCA’s Nicholas J. Vogelzang Humanitarian Award
Daniel J. George recently received the KCA’s Nicholas J Vogelzang Humanitarian Award.
Dr. George serves as a Professor of Medicine and Surgery in the Divisions of Medical Oncology and Urology at Duke University School of Medicine, where he is also the Co-leader of the DCI Center for Prostate and Urologic Cancers.
An internationally recognized clinical researcher and thought leader in genitourinary malignancies, Dr. George has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications.
His work emphasizes new drug development and biomarkers for GU cancers, with a particular focus on health disparities. Since 2006, he has been the principal investigator at Duke for the Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials Consortium, specializing in Phase I and II prostate cancer studies.
He also leads the MaRCC registry for advanced renal cell carcinoma and serves as Co-PI for the PCF 5000, an international registry for advanced prostate cancer.
Dr. George has made significant contributions to the national cancer research community, including his roles on the ASCO scientific committee and the Conquer Cancer Foundation grants review committee, where he served as chair in 2019-20.
He is active on two grant committees for AACR and has been the scientific leader for kidney cancer in the Alliance Cooperative Group since 2011. Additionally, he serves on the Alliance GU scientific committee, the NCI GU Steering Committee, and the NCI Renal Task Force.
His editorial leadership includes roles as senior editor for Clinical Cancer Research and Co-editor in Chief of Clinical Advances in Hematology and Oncology.
