St. Jude follows a Shared Governance structure to bring nurses together to collaborate with leadership – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital shared on LinkedIn:
“St. Jude follows a Shared Governance structure to bring nurses together to collaborate with leadership to influence positive changes in nursing practices at St. Jude. In this structure, nurses are more empowered to improve the nursing environment and outcomes that have a positive impact on patient care.
Last week, many of our nurses gathered for the inaugural Shared Governance Fair, where nurses and other St. Jude employees celebrated last year’s achievements and learned about goals for next year. In a poster presentation format, various nursing councils shared strategies and opportunities to improve each nursing unit, as well as their thoughts on leadership, professional advancements, and how to create a healthy work environment.
‘Shared Governance is our opportunity to advocate for changes in practice, have our voices heard and ensure bedside nurses have a direct impact on the issues that affect us,’ said Katie Tomaszczuk, RN., pediatric oncology nurse and council member.
Learn more about the Shared Governance structure at our Magnet-designated institution, which is the highest designation a hospital can receive related to nursing and one only nine percent of hospitals all U.S. hospitals have achieved.”
