This month’s Faces of Hope at the Richi House are Sue and Kim
Richi Childhood Cancer Foundation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“For this month’s Faces of Hope at the Richi House, we’re thrilled to introduce two amazing volunteers: Sue and Kim!
This mother-daughter duo has been with us since our very first Richi House session, nearly a year ago! Being around them means being surrounded by their magical aura, as both distill kindness and happiness wherever they go.
Sue and Kim have volunteered for many years with children facing life-threatening illnesses and their families, and we’re proud to call them long-time friends of Richi and many other survivors from our first cohort. Kim beautifully captures the essence of the Richi House: ‘I love witnessing the magic and the connections created at each and every session! The bonds being built are truly unmatched, and we celebrate everyone’s authentic self and wins, both big and small.’
Sue, who has worked as a special education teacher for 37 years, reflects on the unique dynamic of the group: ‘I really enjoy the group dynamics, which includes a perfect balance of fun (SO much fun), laughter (A LOT of laughter), and meaningful conversations.’ She also highlights the importance of the Richi House’s mission: ‘I know how critical opportunities for support, respite, networking, a sense of belonging, and social connections are for individuals and their caregivers facing unique challenges.’
Both Sue and Kim see the Richi House as a space where everyone can showcase their talents and passions. Kim shares, ‘Each participant can share something that is a talent or passion of theirs to teach us all about it or even lead an activity.’ Sue looks forward to seeing the evolution of the first Richi House cohort: ‘I would love to see these teens and young adults continue to share and lead the group with their individual talents and interests.’
Outside of the Richi House, Sue and Kim share a love for the arts. Whether it’s Kim enjoying a concert with her friends or Sue showing off some tap dance moves, their enthusiasm is contagious! 🎶
As we gear up for ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth, let’s celebrate the incredible volunteers who make the RichiHouse so special. Thank you, Sue and Kim, for sharing your light and love with us. You are truly shaping the future of the Richi House and changing lives for the better.”
