Roupen Odabashian: This is an interesting article on how Ph.D. holders are leaving academia.

Quoting Roupen Odabashian, Haematology-Oncology Fellow at Karmanos Cancer Institute, on LinkedIn:

“This is an interesting article on how Ph.D. holders are leaving academia. Unfortunately, the situation is similar in Medicine. Many physicians want to pursue a career in the community due to significant payment differences. For example, an Oncologist working in the community can earn 450 to 600K per year. On the other hand, an academic position in oncology pays 150 to 300K per year, based on anecdotal reports and conversations with current job seekers.

It saddens me to see that researchers, whose work is very demanding, get underpaid for their contributions.”
