“EAU-EANM- ESTRO -ESUR-ISUP-SIOG Guidelines on Prostate Cancer – 2024 Update. Part I: Screening, Diagnosis, and Local Treatment with Curative Intent.
The 2024 European Association of Urology European Association of Urology (EAU) guidelines on clinically localized Prostate Cancer (PCa) provide comprehensive recommendations for the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of the disease.
The guidelines emphasize:
- A risk-adapted screening strategy beginning at age 50, with the use of multiparametric MRI to reduce unnecessary biopsies and the combination of targeted and regional biopsies when necessary.
- PSMA PET imaging is highlighted for detecting metastatic spread.
- Management strategies include active surveillance for low-risk patients, potential hypofractionation for intermediate-risk patients.
- Combined local and hormonal treatments for cN1 PCa cases.
The guidelines reflect the multidisciplinary approach necessary for optimal PCa management.”
