David Kirsch: I think Dr. M. Vera Peters would qualify as a famous radiation oncologist.
David Kirsch, Radiation Oncologist at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, recently tweeted:
“I think Dr. M. Vera Peters would qualify as a famous radiation oncologist. A legendary radiation oncologist at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University Health Network, she is one of the medical groundbreakers celebrated in the commemorative stamp issued by Canada Post.
Vera Peters earned her medical degree in 1934. She was one of only ten women in a class of more than one hundred. She would go on to revolutionize the treatment of Hodgkin Lymphoma with RT and led a paradigm shift of using RT in breast cancer for breast conservation.”
