Denis Wirtz: Migrating monocytes in TME
Denis Wirtz, Vice Provost of Research at Johns Hopkins University, shared on X:
“Macrophages are terrible at migrating. In contrast, their precursor cells – monocytes – are highly motile.
Monocytes exploit interleukin 6 (IL-6) secreted by cancer cells and themselves to migrate fast and promote cancer cell proliferation. More here.”
