Voice of the families. Tigist and her father – CANCaRe Africa
CANCaRe Africa shared a post on LinkedIn:
”Voice of the families. Post #13: Tigist and her father.
Meet Tigist and her father, Tsegaw Melkamu. They are from Ethiopia’s Addi Arkay district, where Tigist lives with her parents and five siblings. Tigist’s mother is a housewife. Her father is a farmer, but the farm output is not consistent enough to support the family. Tigist was diagnosed with cancer in 2023. Since then, she has been treated at the University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital (UoGCSH). They travel for about four hours to get to the hospital. Due to socioeconomic difficulties, she was unable to maintain her appointments for chemotherapy. Currently, she has resumed her chemotherapy. Her tumour was surgically removed a month ago, and she is adherently receiving post-surgery chemotherapy. Her father is pleased with the progress achieved in Tigist’s health and the support that they are getting.”
