As Co-Chair of VIRO, Dr. Rana McKay (University of California, San Diego) opened the congress with her talk on
 “Future Directions: Emerging Agents and Combinations.”

She emphasized the momentum in renal cell carcinoma (RCC) research, highlighting how novel immunotherapies, targeted drugs, and rational combination strategies are reshaping patient care. Dr. McKay underscored the importance of personalized, biomarker-driven approaches and global collaboration, aiming to optimize survival and quality of life worldwide.

Dr. Regina Barragan is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Genitourinary Clinic within the Medical Oncology and Medical Therapeutics departments at City of Hope, Duarte, CA.

At the Global Voices in Renal Oncology (VIRO) Virtual Congress 2025, Dr. Barragan will present on “The Current State of Renal Oncology in Mexico.” Her presentation will cover:

  • Epidemiology and clinical management of renal cancer in Mexico, highlighting regional challenges and healthcare disparities.
  • Advances in first- and second-line treatments for metastatic renal cell carcinoma based on recent clinical trial updates.
